Neighbor Brigade Helping During This Difficult Time

05/12/2021

Maria is a single mother whom we connected with through the public schools in December of 2019. When the pandemic hit, our local chapter leader reached out to her and learned that Maria had just lost her job due to the pandemic, and food insecurity became a concern. Neighbor Brigade quickly connected her to two local food pantries, and our volunteers were able to deliver groceries to her from the food pantry each week. Additionally, when she needed essential supplies such as cleaning products, toilet paper and dog food (none of which were available at the pantries at that time), Neighbor Brigade volunteers donated gift cards so that those essential items could be purchased.

Did you know? During the pandemic in 2020 alone, Neighbor Brigade made 1,281 food pantry deliveries, 986 grocery shopping trips, 534 meal deliveries, 14 pharmacy pick ups, and gave clients 242 gift cards for food. We were able to successfully pivot our services to accommodate the need and assisted more than 5 times the number of clients that we had helped in 2019!
